Jing Fong

Updated: May 30, 2019

A competitive dim sum experience in a huge dining hall at the top of a set of escalators. It is a lively restaurant where you can enjoy dim sum with 500 of your closest friends. Don't expect to just sit back, relax and wait for dim sum carts to roll by your table. At Jing Fong you will need to take your order card and chase after the cart you are looking for (a great opportunity to burn off all the calories you are about to eat). If you see something on a cart that looks good, you should just try it because it will probably taste good. If you are unsure of where to start, we recommend getting anything with shrimp in it.

Some of the best shrimp dumplings you can find at dim sum in Chinatown..

The only vegetarian dumpling here. They are delicious but be prepared to make several laps around the restaurant before finding their cart or go up to a busy server near the kitchen and ask them to get you some.

Sesame balls are practically dumplings, right? Dumpling or not, sesame balls are a must if you want to satisfy your sweet cravings.

Jing Fong recently opened a second location in the heart of the Upper West Side. Even though both restaurants have the same name, its easy to not know they are related. The uptown location is very low key, small, has simplistic decorations and you order off a menu. They also have slightly different menus...you can only get nutella buns at the uptown location (definitely trying to appeal to the "typical UWS resident").

These vegetable dumplings look nothing like the ones in Chinatown and aren't as flavorful. Obtaining these veggie dumplings isn't nearly as fun as at the Chinatown location.
